The aim of the project was to develop an innovative low-frequency, passive seismic tomography system to identify the structure of the surface layers of a geological formation. The scientific basis of the project assumptions was a relatively new method using the global and local seismic noise, the so-called Low Frequency Seismic (LFS). The depth range depends on the frequency of the seismic wave analysed and can range from several dozen to several thousand meters. Globally, this issue is relatively new; its individual aspects are analysed by various research teams. Our Institute was a project partner with the share of approx. 35%. The remaining shareholders are: The Centre of Technology Transfer EMAG Ltd. and the Institute of Innovative Technologies EMAG (project leader).
