Project title: Eutrophication potential assessment of treated wastewater discharged to surface running waters
The aim of the research project is to determine the eutrophication potential of treated wastewater discharged into surface running waters, which value may have a significant impact on the dynamics of changes taking place in the aquatic ecosystem.
As part of the project, it is planned to analyze the characteristics of treated wastewater from the Kraków-Kujawy wastewater treatment plant in terms of the content of, among others bioavailable forms of nutrients (i.e. ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen and orthophosphates). In addition, the water of the effluent receiver will be examined in terms of appropriate parameters indicating a change in its trophic state as a result of the introduced wastewater.
The results of the analysis of parameters will help to assess which biogenic forms mainly determine the character of the eutrophication process of running waters.
The project is financed by the National Science Centre, project registration no. 2021/05/X/ST10/00011
