13 January 2022 Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (MEERI PAS) joined Krakow School of Interdisciplinary PhD Studies (KISD). KISD is established by the institutes Polish Academy of Sciences and two faculties of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow:
The current activities of KISD are managed and coordinated by the Director of the Doctoral School, and within a given Unit by the Deputy Director of the Doctoral School. The functioning of the Doctoral School in the field of teaching and research is supervised by the KISD Program Council, which is a collective opinion-forming body.
The Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences is authorized to confer doctoral degrees in the field of engineering and technical sciences in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy.

Education at KISD lasts from 6 to 8 semesters and ends with the submission of a doctoral dissertation. It is carried out through the implementation of an individual research program and an individual education program.
