The Committee for Sustainable Mineral Resources Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established in 1979. The Committee operates in the Fourth Faculty of Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, integrating scientists involved in the complex management of mineral resources by undertaking interdisciplinary activities in the fields of geological sciences, mining, mineral processing and economics.
The Committee members include Polish members of the Polish Academy of Sciences with relevant specialities, academic staff from other universities, institutions of the Polish Academy of Sciences, government research institutes and representatives of economic and social institutions and organizations. Uniting the scientific community, the Committee acts as an advisory and consultative body, effectively impacting on the sustainable development and management of mineral resources.
