Professor Marzena Smol-Aruszanjan has been ranked 1st in the world among the most prolific authors publishing in the field of circular economy (CE). Her name tops the global list, based on an analysis of over 16,000 peer-reviewed scientific articles published between 2004 and 2024.<\/p>\n
The ranking was published in the article “A global analysis of circular economy research using metadata and topic modeling<\/em>,” published in the journal Discover Environment<\/em>. The authors analyzed 16,424 peer-reviewed publications from the Scopus database, examining, among other things, the dynamics of development in this field, the most important research centers, countries, journals, and the most active researchers worldwide.<\/p>\n In a ranking of the most productive authors of circular economy research, Prof. Marzena Smol-Aruszanjan was ranked first in the world in terms of the number of scientific publications in which she was the first author. This result confirms her leading position in international circular economy research and her significant contribution to the development of this dynamically developing field. The authors’ (Pavlos Fafalios & Konstantinos Tsagarakis) indicate that the ranking focuses on first authorship, which often reflects a leading role in research.<\/p>\n The study also demonstrates the dynamic development of the field of circular economy research \u2013 the number of publications has increased from a single paper in 2004 to over 4,300 articles published in 2024 alone.<\/p>\n The research of prof. Marzena Smol-Aruszanjan focuses mainly on the circular economy in the water and wastewater management sector, with particular emphasis on the recovery of water, nutrients, and valuable raw materials from waste and sewage, as well as on environmental management, including the development of CE business models.<\/p>\n
