{"id":1056,"date":"2019-08-01T14:10:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-01T12:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/min-pan.krakow.pl\/instytut\/?page_id=1056"},"modified":"2024-05-20T14:05:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-20T12:05:40","slug":"institute-home-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/min-pan.krakow.pl\/instytut\/en\/","title":{"rendered":"Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h2>History and range of activities of the Institute<\/h2>\n<p>The history of the Institute consists of several events leading to the establishment of the independent scientific and research unit of the Polish Academy of Sciences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1986 \u2212 The Department of Basic Research on Mineral Management was founded.<\/li>\n<li>1988 \u2212 The Centre for Fundamental Problems of Mineral and Energy Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established.<\/li>\n<li>1998 \u2212 The Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences was founded.<\/li>\n<li>2012 \u2013 The Institute was granted the right to confer the degree of Doctor of Mining and Engineering Geology.<\/li>\n<li>2016 \u2013 The Institute celebrated 30 years since its foundation.<\/li>\n<li>2017 \u2013 The European Commission awarded the Institute with the right to use the prestigious logo, HR Excellence in Research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The studies carried out at the Institute are characterized by interdisciplinarity and complexity. They are implemented on the basis of the entire research process\u2014from basic research to application\u2014with a particular emphasis on their usefulness. The interdisciplinary nature of the Institute\u2019s activities includes disciplines such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mining<\/li>\n<li>Geology and geoengineering,<\/li>\n<li>Power engineering, including renewable and geothermal energy,<\/li>\n<li>Environmental engineering,<\/li>\n<li>Geophysics and applied geophysics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is worth emphasizing that the Institute is a pioneer in the use of geothermal energy in Poland. The first Polish experimental geothermal plant, located in Ba\u0144ska Ni\u017cna-Bia\u0142y Dunajec and made up of two deep boreholes, was launched in 1993.
